When you enter Palazzo Lavaca, you will step back in time and discover a dreamlike retreat dripping with extraordinary antiques, fabrics from global travels, magnificent chandeliers, ethereal artwork and mysterious skeleton door keys.  This luxurious space possesses the intriguing charm of the old world combined with all the modern amenities.

Palazzo Lavaca was originally built in 1890 as Austin's first fire station.  Later it was acquired by the legendary, Steiner ranching family.  Beginning in 1942, it served as Capitol Saddlery and Boots - a historic space where all of the saddles for Sears and Roebuck's, as well as countless other leather goods for Texas ranchers and cowboys were created by some of the best leather craftsmen in the U.S.   It was home to one of the world's most famous bootmakers, Charlie Dunn; their worldwide clientele included:  Al Capone, Tom Mix, Gene Autry, Carole King, Jerry Jeff Walker, Bobby Lane, Peter Fonda and Pancho Villa.

Lavaca's newest owner has restored the once dilapidated historical building into its most alluring, artistic and magical incarnation yet.   Drawing influence from New York style lofts and the elegance of Europe's classical boutique hotels, Palazzo Lavaca is a wholly unique space drenched in history and romance and punctuated with a designer's eye for detail and storytelling.
